Mail Server
Right click the existing account to open Property dialog box then select Mail Server, the dialog box contains the following items:
SMTP Server: Your outgoing mails will be sent from this mail server. The format shall be a domain name (e.g. smtp.foxmail.com.cn) or an IP number (e.g. 231.56.789.24).
POP3 Server: Your incoming mails will be save in this server. you may download those mails by Foxmail Client. If the SMTP Server and POP3 Server are the same one, please type the same information in this field.
Regarding to the free web mails, you may find the correct information of SMTP Server and POP3 Server. Regarding to other mail box, please consult the relevant technical department.
POP3 Account: This is the Account Name of POP3 Server. Users may receive POP3 mails when typing the correct Password. e.g. If your E-mail address is lily@bodachina.com, please type your Account Name as "lily"
Password: Although this password will be encrypted and saved, however, you may still keep it as blank if you concern the security. If you didn't type the Password in this field, Foxmail will request inputting Password when receiving mails. If the mail server request ESMTP authentication, system will request to confirm the Password when receiving mails, therefore we suggest you to type the Password in this field.
Advanced: You may modify the settings of SMTP Server and POP3 Server when system administrator request you change the default information.
To prevent span mails or other improper behaviors, some ISP will request authentication.
Foxmail support many authentication, such as LOGIN, BPLAIN, BCRAM-MD5 and also been tested in many authentication server. Please set up by the following steps:
Right click the existing account then select Property to open the dialog box, click Mail Server on the tool bar then tick SMTP Server needs AUTHENTICATION check box, then click OK.
If the authenticated account and password is different from the existing POP3 account, please click Setting and fill in the the correct account and password for authentication.
